Though my educational background is in advertising and graphic design, I studied writing. I began ghostwriting over twenty years ago while writing advertising copy. I published my first book in my name in 2007. My Dream Lover is my fourth book, and it starts as a cute coming-of-age tale that escalates into so much more. Though this romance novel is not classified in the science fiction genre, it does have a sci-fi twist. It is a story about true love and all its elements of it. The story becomes one of dedication to reuniting with a sole mate.
About My Dream Lover
My Dream Lover is a romance book with a science fiction twist. It begins as a coming-of-age story about a young man named Robert Bryant and his younger sister Emily: strangers in a new town in 1953. Born a genius with exceptional coordination, Robert excels at sports in high school. However, due to his nature, Robert struggles with the concept of love and only maintains short, casual relationships. Years later, Robert finds the passion of love where he least expected. But things in his life change suddenly, which propel him into a world of betrayal, deceit, and treachery as Robert struggles to reunite with his one true love. Along the way, Robert discovers a dark past and things about himself, which accounts for how he became the way he is. Will Robert reunite with his one true love or forfeit love forever? Only time will tell in this romantic story wit a sci-fi twist.
However, My Dream Lover is much more than that. It’s a love romance story using science fiction elements and based on a different era. The 1950s were a different culture than that of today. That fact is even accentuated in a small town in the Midwest of that era, where much of the story of My Dream Lover takes place.
Many who lived in small towns in the Midwest where much of My Dream Lover takes place looked upon those times as a better place. And in many ways, it was. The simplicity of life back then was less stressful and demanding. There was less crime than in the inner cities, and the meaning of respect was still evident. How could anyone question those things? My Dream Lover explains the quaintness of that time.
Without cable TV, the Internet, social media, and devices, people spent more time together socializing and communicating naturally. There was far more credibility among people. Family and friends had more meaning in the era where the story of My Dream Lover takes place.
Aside from the different elements of that time and place, My Dream Lover has aspects that go well beyond the average romance book. The protagonist goes on a mission of a different kind to reunite with his lost love. His dedication does not falter while experiencing many adversities, which displays the meaning of true love. Though the book is not categorized as science fiction, My Dream Lover does have a sci-fi twist.
